Katavi National Park

Katavi is located in the Tanzania far west, the park is for safari enthusiast. For those who will want spend time and money to get here, the reward is nothing short of magical.

Katavi is famous for its enormous crocodile and hippo populations ,huge hippo pools with up to 600 at its peak, The way crocodiles hibernate in dens is like nowhere else in Africa. Dry Season

May is the start of the Dry season.Due to unpredictable weather change it might still rain occasionally especially at the beginning of the month.

Afternoon temperatures are usually around 30°C/86°F. Most days are sunny and clear. Rain would be very rare at this time. June has the coolest nights with an average minimum temperature of 15°C/59°F.

Dry season ends in October. Temperatures peak slightly at 32°C/90°F. Rain can be expected on some days and humidity will gradually increase.

Wet Season

In November humidity is high and it can feel incredibly hot. Afternoon temperatures are usually around 32°C/90°F and nighttime temperatures are around 19°C/66°F. Thunderstorms in the afternoon are probable. It will rain almost every day but rarely all day long.

Long rains

Starting March it rains more frequency to May , although not often for the whole day. These months are the wettest and most cloud-covered. The humidity is heightened, and it might feel very hot.
