Mahale Mountains National Park contains the world’s largest protected population of the eastern subspecies of Chimpanzee (approx. 700-1000) of them. The area contains about 337 birds species , many of which are rare and endemic to the Albertine Rift.

Clear and sunny skies with afternoon temperatures of around 26°C/79°F. This is a time of little, if any, rain. The coldest nights are in June with temperatures of about 14°C/57°F.
