Day 1 – Depart Oslo to Kilimanjaro (Overnight Flight)
Travel / Activity
You depart Oslo on an evening international flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) in northern Tanzania. This is an overnight flight, typically requiring one connection (e.g., via Amsterdam, Doha, or Istanbul), arriving the following morning.
Day 2: Arrival in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

Day 3 - Ugweno Cultural Experience & Sacred Forest Visit

After breakfast in Arusha or Moshi, drive to Sungo Village in the North Pare Mountains. You’ll be welcomed by the Mkombozi Women’s Group, known for local crafts and community development. Visit their workshops, try local foods, and learn about traditional uses of banana fibre. Explore the stingless bee project, where you’ll discover the medicinal benefits of their honey. In the evening, visit MSHITU, a sacred forest guided by a Shana clan elder, and learn about ancient healing rituals. Overnight at Sungo Ecological Village.
Day 3 - Lake Jipe

After breakfast, descend from the North Pare Mountains to Lake Jipe, enjoying stunning views of the lake and the Kenyan border. Stop at Lake Jipe Eco Lodge to register for evening canoeing, then continue to Tsavo West National Park for a full-day game drive. Expect to see elephants, hippos, lions, leopards, and rich birdlife. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park before returning to Lake Jipe Eco Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4 – Mkomazi National Park & Rhino Sanctuary

After breakfast, depart for Mkomazi National Park with a bush picnic lunch en route. Arrive early afternoon and rest before an evening visit to the Mkomazi Rhino Sanctuary, where you’ll also see African wild dogs.
Day 5 – Full-Day Safari in Mkomazi National Park

Enjoy an early breakfast, then head out for a full-day game drive in Mkomazi National Park with packed lunch boxes. Explore this scenic and less-crowded park known for its diverse wildlife and striking landscapes.
Day 6 - Mkomazi National Park - Kisiwani (Hillock school)
Travel / Activity
After breakfast, drive to Hillock School in Kisiwani (about 1 hour). Spend the day engaging with students, teachers, and school management. Enjoy a hot lunch at the school. In the afternoon, drive to Same Town for overnight stay.
Day 7 – Scenic Drive to Usambara Mountains (Lushoto)

After breakfast, begin a 4-hour scenic drive southeast, following the South Pare Mountains and transitioning from Kilimanjaro into the Tanga Region. As you approach Mombo, the road winds up into the Usambara Mountains, offering stunning views and vibrant local life. Arrive in Lushoto for dinner and overnight.
Day 8 – Hiking in Usambara: Kwambego, Magamba Forest & Irente Viewpoint

After breakfast, begin your guided hike to Kwambego, learning about the local culture and history along the way. Continue through Magamba Forest, where you might spot the rare black-and-white colobus monkey, then explore the historic German cave. End your day at Irente Viewpoint to enjoy a stunning sunset. Picnic lunch included during the hike. Overnight in Lushoto.
Day 9 – Drive to Dar es Salaam via Bagamoyo

After breakfast, depart Lushoto for a 5–6 hour drive towards Dar es Salaam, with a 1.5–2 hour stop in Bagamoyo to explore historical landmarks like the Old Fort and Catholic Mission. After the visit, continue the drive for another 1.5–2 hours to Dar es Salaam, arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 10 – Ferry to Zanzibar & Transfer to Nungwi
Travel / Activity
After breakfast in Dar es Salaam, you’ll board a fast ferry to Zanzibar. The ferry departs at 07:00 AM and arrives in Stone Town at approximately 08:45 AM, offering a scenic 1 hour and 45-minute journey across the Indian Ocean . Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your accommodation in Nungwi for check-in. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax on the beach or explore the local area.
Day 10 – Full Day Relaxing in Nungwi
Travel / Activity
After breakfast, enjoy a relaxing day at the beach in Nungwi. Lounge under an umbrella, swim in the clear waters, or take a walk along the shore. Enjoy lunch at a beachfront restaurant, then spend the afternoon at leisure. Relax or explore the local area, and unwind with a beachside dinner as the sun sets.
Day 11 – Boat Trip to Mnemba & Dolphin Safari
Travel / Activity
After breakfast, embark on a boat trip to Mnemba Atoll, known for its vibrant coral reefs and marine life. Enjoy snorkeling and swimming in the crystal-clear waters. Later in the day, head out on a dolphin safari, where you may have the chance to swim with dolphins. Return to Nungwi for dinner and overnight.
Day 12 – Relaxing Day & Sunset Cruise
Travel / Activity
Spend the day relaxing at the beach or exploring Nungwi at your own pace. In the late afternoon, enjoy a sunset cruise on a traditional dhow boat, taking in the stunning views of the coastline. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 13 – Transfer to Stone Town & Tour
Travel / Activity
After breakfast, transfer to Stone Town for a half-day tour of the historic area. Explore the winding streets, visit the House of Wonders, Old Fort, and Forodhani Gardens, and learn about the island’s rich history. After the tour, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant before spending the night in Stone Town.
Day 14 – Transfer to Zanzibar International Airport
Travel / Activity
After breakfast, enjoy some free time in Stone Town before transferring to Zanzibar International Airport for your flight back to Norway.
